That's my ball!
On Friday night at the Pinion Hills field, off of Stephanie Ln. in the Minden Johnson Ln. area, the Extreme (Div U12G) defeated the Elements (Div U11G) by a score of 13 to 1.

The Element's only goal came late in the game with about 10 minutes left on the clock. With their score, the Elements took the shut-out away from the Extreme in what was the first game of the season for both teams.

Extreme on the attack.
The game went without much incident for the Extreme whom are together as a core group for their third season. They were able to control the game from start to finish outplaying and outscoring their opponents.

For the Elements, a brand new team this season, it was a harsh call to the reality of "club team" play. Both teams play the competitive divisions of the Great Basin Youth Soccer League (GBYSL), organized in  Reno, where teams from Northern Nevada and Easter California play each fall and spring.

Close but the Extreme forward missed the shot!
At this level, unlike other recreational leagues, "pulling back" or going easy vs. a less skilled opponent, could cost a winning team in a way of goal differential or confidence on their play.

It is up to the Element's coaches to pull their team together and rally them up to prepare them for their next game. It is always a long road when a team first comes together for a new season.

In another note, some of the Elements players were seen at the UNR Wolf Pack Women's game on Sunday the 2nd where the girls did a great job helping with the balls during the Nevada vs. Oregon State game. Afterwards, the UNR players signed their posters and thank them for their help. Great Job Girls!

For the Extreme, it is business as usual, after loosing few of the girls that were on the team last spring, they have come together with a brand new look and ready to take on their next challenge.
