On Friday August 31 at
Centennial
Park, Chongeros confronted
Barcelona for the Championship of the CCRD 2007 Master 35+ Summer season.
The Game saw two teams that appeared evenly matched the first 10 minutes of the game. That is, until Chongeros opened the score on a play thru the left side where a shot on goal from the left forward could not be controlled by the Barcelona Keeper, going through his right side and the right goal post.
Ball goes past the keeper on the right side!

Chongeros 1st goal is at the back of the net.

Chongeros added to the score minutes later to go up 2-0. However,
Barcelona made an attempt to push the lines and were able to reduce the difference by one on a shot from about 40 yards that curved into the goal of Chongeros on the upper left corner. The Chongeros keeper could only watch as the ball went in.
In the second half
Barcelona tried to play at the same level as Chongeros but could not match their opponents speed and touch on the ball. Pushing the lines into the attack,
Barcelona left the back weakened and Chongeros were able to add two more goals for a final score of 4-1.
With this result Chongeros becomes the Champion of the CCRD Summer Men's Master35+ Season.
On the consolation game scheduled for 6:30 the same night, Team Estrella Blanca displayed poor sportsmanship and respect towards the league, the city, Team Tomatlan and the attending public as they opted not to show up to dispute the game for third place. Pedro Madera (CCRD’s Representative on site at the fields) when asked about the consequences of Estrella Blanca not showing up, commented that "New rules will probably be implemented for any soccer season organized by the Carson City Recreation Department (CCRD) in the future.”
Thus Team Tomatlan becomes third place on the league behind Chongeros and
Barcelona.
