For the second consecutive game the Wolf Pack girls came out short. Nevada lost their second game by score of 2-1 in an exiting game played at Mackay Stadium Sunday afternoon.
In what was a perfect day for soccer and with around 200 people attending the game,
Nevada was poised to improve their record after recording the first loss on Friday night.
The first half saw a controlling
Nevada team that maintained possession of the ball for most of the time. However, when it came to pushing past 3/4 of the field into the penalty area of the Vikings, the Pack looked without commitment and could not open the score.
With a defense that appeared a little hesitant, it was only a matter of time till Oregon State could capitalize on a counter attack play at the 30th minute of the half. The Pack defense looked sluggish at best and allowed the first score by Tarah Authier.

Things did not change much and few minutes later on another fast play from the back it was now Frankie Ross who would put the score at 2-0. Again , the defense looked flat and could not respond to the sporadic attacks from
Oregon.
Coach "Interim" Marjanovic must have given a good talk at the half because by the second period, the Pack looked in full force and poised to take the game into their own hands.
With a full push forward of all the lines and a better defense at the back playing a 3-4-3 set up, the pack played almost the entire 45 minutes in
Oregon territory. The defensive line took control of the midfield and kept feeding balls forward.
Outside of couple of counterattack plays by
Oregon, one of which came late in the game with about 6 minutes remaining, and that saw the best save of the game for goal keeper Marie Cove,
Oregon did not have a response for
Nevada's relentless attack.
There were couple of plays during the game where Nevada had clear shots at goal and only managed to give the ball into the keeper's hand, with shots on goal that were hard but directly to the Oregon State keeper.
It was finally in the 81st minute of the match, after Cristen Drummond looked dangerous for the Vikings in the middle of the penalty box, that she was taken down from behind to give the Pack a penalty kick to open the score. The penalty kick was taken by Miranda Montejo who put the ball to the opposite side of the goal keeper who guessed left.

With only nine minutes remaining in the game,
Nevada increased pressure but could not break the
Oregon defense and ended up losing by the score of 2-1.
Nevada now (0-2) must regroup and figure out how to win the game on the first half or at the minimum not loose it. After the game, speaking for
Nevada, Coach Marjanovic said "Our main goal now is to try and focus and prepare for the first half of the game." "We were flat in the first half again and it resulted in getting two goals scored on us."
Speaking for www.CarsonSoccer.com, forward Karen Zmirak said of the two losses, "these are two great teams," "they came out flying" (and) "we had a rough start." Karen feels confident on improving, "we just have to pick it up on the first half and we'll be fine" she said.
Nevada's next game is away from home at
Arizona on Friday Night at 7 p.m.
