Jaime Frias, New Wolf Pack Women's Soccer Program Head Coach
Jaime Frias has been named the new head coach of the UNR women’s soccer program. Coach Frias was the head coach for the last three seasons at the Stephen F. Austin State University.

Wolf Pack Director of Athletics Cary Groth announced Monday that the 2005 Southland Conference coach of the year will be only the fourth coach leading the UNR women’s program since its inception.

Frias carries with him a successful record of 36-17-3 overall and an 18-3-2 record in Southland Conference play.

“We are very excited to have someone with Jaime Frias’ experience and accomplishments join the Wolf Pack family,” Groth said. “He is a proven, established head coach with experience in leading his teams to conference championships. We look forward to him taking the helm of our soccer program and bringing it to the next level.  Jaime has already reached out to the soccer community in Nevada and we look forward to him bringing our program and the soccer community together.”

“I want to thank Cary Groth, Cindy Fox and the entire search committee for giving me the opportunity to lead the women's soccer program at the University of Nevada.  I also want to thank Stephen F. Austin State University, the athletics department and soccer program for the support they showed me during my six years there,” Frias said.  “The University of Nevada is an institution that is committed to providing every resource for their student athletes to be champions on the field, in the classroom and in life.  I look forward to the start of the spring season and working with the team.”

While head coach at Stephen F. Austin, Frias had two of his recruiting classes, in 2006 and 2007, ranked in the top 25 in the central region by Soccer Buzz.  Soccer Buzz also listed his 2007 recruiting class as the No. 1 recruiting class in the Southland Conference.

While serving as an assistant coach for the Ladyjacks, Frias helped Stephen F. Austin win both a Southland Conference regular-season championship in 2004 and a Southland Conference tournament championship in 2003.  The team also made a NCAA Tournament appearance in 2003. During his three seasons as an assistant coach, Stephen F. Austin recorded a 33-19-9 overall record and a 22-7-7 record in Southland Conference play.

Frias has also spent time as an Olympic Development Program (ODP) and high school coach. He served as the ODP coach for the North Texas male and female teams from December of 2004 to May of 2005 and worked with the ODP South Texas female teams from January of 2004 to July of 2004. Frias also spent time coaching high school boy’s soccer at Caddo Magnet High School and Booker T. Washington High School in Shreveport, La.

Frias holds a United States Soccer Federation (USSF) National “A” coaching license.  He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in health and physical education in 2000 from Centenary College and is pursuing a master’s degree in secondary education and leadership.
