Wolf Pack Women's Soccer Team Falls in Season Opener

The UNR Wolf Pack Women's Soccer team (0-1) suffered their first loss of the season by a score of 1-0 on their opening game vs. the Oregon Ducks (1-0) at Mackay Stadium on Friday night.

With an early goal the Duck's Jessica Goodell on the 13th minute of the first half, the Ducks controlled the game against a UNR team that looked flat and without initiative.

On the second half the Pack was ready to play and looked as a cohesive team taking 6 shots on goal. Unfortunately their efforts went unrewarded as they could not break a solid Oregon defense.

In what is the first "official" game under the tutelage of new coach interim Antoinette Marjanovic, the Pack showed that they still need some work to be able to overcome teams of the caliber of the Ducks.

Marjanovic, a former Croatia National Team member, has to regroup with the Pack women now as they face their next challenge against the Oregon State Vikings. The game is scheduled for Sunday at 2 p.m. at Mackay Stadium.
