AYSO Region 140 presents the 1st Annual Soccer Fest 2008!

The program is designed to mimic the now popular "Soccer Jamboree" for U5 players part of the AYSO fall program.

It is OPEN to all children (Boys and Girls) 4 to 8 years of age as of this spring.

Go to the Online Registration Form Directly Here

It consists of an age specific training/practice session every week followed by a scrimmage where kids will be placed on different teams the day of the "Soccer Fest" to have a fun game to end each session.

There will be six Sunday sessions starting on April 13, 2008 at 3:00 pm. Parents should bring players between 2:00 and 2:45 on their first session to pay for the program and register their kids on the appropriate division.

The program will be organized by current AYSO volunteers and older players but it is not part of the AYSO program and AYSO registration is not required.

All players will be shown the age appropriate skills that have been successfully implemented by Nationally recognized programs and coaches and will be combined with fun and games.

To register, fill in the online form and bring your child (children) to the first session with the registration fee. Payment for registration will be collected the date of your first session, please arrive between 2 and 2:45 and make checks payable to "Toiyabe" that day.

Pre-registration forms turned in by March 21 are $25.00 per player. $30 per player thereafter and on the day of the player's first session.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Q. What does my child need to bring?
A. Shin-guards, soccer shoes or tennis shoes (No baseball cleats), appropriate clothing (shorts and t-shirt and socks to cover shin-guards), sunscreen, water & a snack.

Q. Is this a competitive program?
A. NO, AYSO (American Youth Soccer Organization) and other organizations like USYS (United States Youth Soccer) as well as the USSF and FIFA believe in children of these ages should be exposed to the game and the basic skills required, without adding the pressure of winning at all cost this young.

Q. My child is really good and I think he/she should play competitive, can you help me get him on a competitive team?
A. NO, we believe in the game of soccer being fun first and foremost. It has been shown historically that full competitive environments at the U6 U8 level tend to hurt the development of players.

Q. Will this be considered part of the fall AYSO registration?
A. NO, this is an independent program run by AYSO volunteers and older players but it is not part of the fall registration process. Fall registrations open on April 1st online and walk-in registrations start on April 9 for Carson City. See the registration page (link on the left for details).

Q. Can I coach my child?
A. Parents interested in coaching their children are welcome to participate as observers of the drills and sessions. This will prepare parents with little or no knowledge of the game to coach their kids in the fall AYSO program.

Q. We leave outside of Carson City, can my child participate?
A. YES.

Q. I have a boy and a girl, can they both participate?
A. YES.

Q. Is there a discount for more than one kid from the same family?
A. NO, but we will scholarship a portion or all of the registration fee upon request and a review of the situation.

Q. Who is in charge?
A. The program is organized and run by John Chavez, Regional Commissioner AYSO Region 140, Jennifer Veneziano, Treasurer and co-coach administrator Region 140, Jorge Guevara, co-coach administrator region 140, and Yvonne Young, CVPA (Child & Volunteer Protection Advocate for AYSO region 140.

Q. Who works/trains the kids?
A. The program is run by current U12 competitive Toiyabe Spring coaches and their competitive players whom will help running the practices and serve as a role model for the skills the U6 U8 kids need to learn. Additionally, a selection of volunteer parents of the U12 players whom have been around the competitive and recreational environments will help organize the kids. All under the direct supervision of the organizers and following the set curriculum for the sessions.

Q. I hear there is another program where my child can play competitive.
A. Any other programs not specifically mentioned within this site are not part of AYSO and are not sanctioned by AYSO or the region 140. Competitive play at these ages is not recommended but it is each parent's prerogative to place their child where they wish.

Q. Who can I contact if I need more information.
A. Contact john@carsonsoccer.com
