AYSO Region 140 presents the 1st Annual Soccer Fest 2008!

The program is designed to mimic the now popular "Soccer Jamboree" for U5 players part of the AYSO fall program.

It is OPEN to all children (Boys and Girls) 4 to 8 years of age as of this spring.

It consists of an age specific training/practice session every week followed by a scrimmage where kids will be placed on different teams the day of the "Soccer Fest" to have a fun game to end each session.

In youth soccer there are in my experience, three types of coaches. There are the coaches that have no "Love for the Game" and that are interested in winning at all cost. There are also the coaches that are more interested in tactics and the control of players where their emphasis is in how good they can manage a game and control players. And then there are the coaches that make children's programs work and will actually concentrate in developing players and teaching the basics because they "Love the Game."

GBYSL "For The Good Of The Game"

This fall GBYSL season there have been a few matches where some teams have outscored opponents by more than 10 goals in a match. This has caused some concern on the GBYSL board of directors and they are now proactively addressing this issue as one of the most common signs of poor sportsmanship.

On an article published on September 10 2007 "Extreme 13-1 over Elements." we reported the following statement; "At this level, unlike other recreational leagues, "pulling back" or going easy vs. a less skilled opponent, could cost a winning team in a way of goal differential or confidence on their play."
